DEBBIE ABRAHAMS Labour Candidate for the Oldham East and Saddleworth by-election has today (Wednesday) launched her Fairness Guarantee during a visit to Saddleworth Rangers Rugby League Club. She was joined at the launch by Ivan Lewis, Labour’s Shadow Culture, Media and Sport Secretary and Andy Burnham, Labour’s campaign coordinator
Launching her guarantee, Debbie Abrahams said:
“I want people to vote for fairness in this by-election by giving me their support. Today, I am spelling out my Fairness Guarantee.
“Part of my guarantee is securing more facilities for young people. Saddleworth Rangers Rugby Club is a great example of the facilities we need more of this borough.”
Labour’s Shadow Culture, Media and Sport Secretary Ivan Lewis MP said:
“The LibDem-Tory led Government is letting our young people down, for example their plans to slash school sport funding by 80%.
“And locally it’s clear Oldham’s LibDem-Tory Council is failing to provide enough facilities for people as well. Debbie is the only candidate who will fight for fairness for Oldham East and Saddleworth.”
Andy Burnham MP said:
“There are tough questions for the Lib Dems and the Tories to answer here in Oldham East and Saddleworth.
“We’ve set out Debbie’s plan for fairness. Now the LibDem/Tory Government should explain how a hike in VAT straight after Christmas is fair. It’s yet another Lib Dem broken promise.”
Debbie Abraham’s Fairness Guarantee
Fair to Oldham East and Saddleworth – I will always do my best for the borough not what’s best for Westminster.
Fair to our community – I’ll stand up against the LibDem-Tory police cuts and will make the fight against crime a priority.
Fair to our local services – I’ll campaign to protect our local services from unfair cuts.
Fair to our young people – I’ll work to secure more facilities, jobs and affordable homes for our young people.
Fair to you – I’ll work hard for you every day and I won’t make promises I can’t keep.
