Creating a dementia-friendly Oldham is one of my top ten constituency priorities so what better way to start Dementia Awareness Week than by completing Europe’s biggest 10K running event, the Great Manchester Run, in 54 minutes and 33 seconds?
Race day was too hot for running but the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic and the streets of Manchester were packed with people running for all sorts of charities.
It was great to meet and chat with so many other people at the Alzheimer’s Society stall who have been affected by the disease like me, losing my mum in 2012, but who are just as determined to take action to do something about it.
I’d like to say a big thank you to all the people who sponsored me and encourage everyone in Oldham and Saddleworth to get involved in the Dementia Awareness Week activities organised by the Oldham Dementia Partnership, Oldham Council, NHS Oldham CCG and Age UK.
This morning donations on my fundraising page reached £675 for Alzheimer’s Society!
