I am pleased that I have been selected to be a member of the Public Service Pensions Bill Committee. The Committee will look examine the Bill line by line, report conclusions and amendments to the House of Commons, where the Bill will be debate.
You can find out more about the Bill Committee here.
The average local government pension for men is £4,000 a year and for women is £2,600. I beleive that, as a consequence of attacking the public sector, the Government have pitted public sector pensions against private sector pensions. During a recent parliamentary debate on the Public Service Pensions Bill I asked the Government if they regret their action. You can read my contribution and the debate here.
