Unfair LibDem-Tory Government snatches nearly £10 million off Oldham children

Yvette Cooper MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Equality, has hit out at the LibDem-Tory Government’s broken promises that will see mums in Oldham lose almost £10 million a year in direct support.

Campaigning for Labour’s Debbie Abrahams in Oldham East & Saddleworth, Yvette unveiled research that shows the LibDem-Tory Government is slashing £9.75 million a year from direct support for Oldham mums and children – including cuts in child tax credit, child benefit and the child trust fund. Yvette, who visited Friezeland Primary School in Greenfield yesterday afternoon (Monday), urged the voters of Oldham East & Saddleworth to send a message to the LibDem-Tory Government by backing Debbie Abraham’s Fairness Guarantee and voting Labour on Thursday.

Yvette Cooper MP, said:

“The only way to send a message to David Cameron and Nick Clegg about their broken promises is to use your vote for Debbie Abrahams on Thursday.

“Its clear that the LibDem-Tory Government are willing to cut support to the mums and kids in the borough, in fact this government has taken more from kids across the country than they have from the banks. Debbie Abrahams has pledged to be fair to young people – she will always do whats best for the borough – not what’s best for Westminster.”

Debbie Abrahams, Labour’s Candidate for Oldham East & Saddleworth, said:
“Clegg’s Lib Dems and Cameron’s Tories have not only betrayed children and families in Oldham East & Saddleworth, they have betrayed everyone.

“It is vital that everyone in Oldham East & Saddleworth votes Labour on Thursday to send a message to the LibDem-Tory Government.”
